This site is amazing, thank you for this. What a resource!
I’m in the process of filing Form 1023, and your information/direction is helping tremendously. I donated, and will continue to regularly support this site as my organization develops because I will be regularly coming back!
I donated because I knew this will be a good resource.
So, after finding this site, reading all the feedback (loved the one where you put the person in their place; thanks for being real, Chris Sorbi), and realizing I will be using this extensively, I donated because I knew this will be a good resource. I figured that I could pay an attorney AT LEAST $2,000 that I don’t have to file my paperwork for me, or I could make a small donation to keep this site alive and say thanks for the help.
So, get this: I donated less than a tenth ($200) of what I could have paid to an attorney. It’s after 10 PM, and I get an e-mail from Chris Sorbi minutes later thanking me for my generous donation and asking me if I meant to donate that much and that he’d be happy to refund my donation if the amount was made in error.
I knew I felt good about donating, but now I know that I’ve never made a better choice. If anyone wants me to forward the e-mail, contact me: lleavitt@sileducation. I can’t believe it. I also already have the email with the links for the documents.
Keep up the open source work, dude.
Good luck to everyone in their respective causes!
Chris, You are a National Treasure!
Chris,
You are a National Treasure! You are a man of integrity; a man who shares without expecting anything in return; a man who gives freely of his time to help all of us to begin worthy projects. Thank you for your kind response emails to my questions. I have one more hurdle and hope that you can help me jump it cleanly. I made a small donation but intend to keep making small donations until they all add up to something larger than small. Thank you Chris!
I just wanted to take the time to thank you for creating this website.
I just wanted to take the time to thank you for creating this website. It is pure genius!! It is assisting me with my up incoming non profit reentry program. The paperwork can get frustrating but your website keeps me inspired. Thank you !!
Thank you very much.
You’re an excellent writer. More importantly you give everything for nonprofit. The documentations for the article of incorporation and bylaws is wonderful. I will give the donation for the money on Monday (3/3/2014).
I am retired and it will be a long journey to get the IRS ready, and then I will hope to your consultation ($275.00). Maybe we can give more…
Thank you very much…
Thank you so much for this site.
Thank you so much for this site. I have spent the last 6 hours pouring over documents – I get so excited at each new step I don’t want to leave my computer! But I have to my shoulders are really talking to me!
During the last few months I’ve spent many hours on the internet that led me in circles. What a gem you are. I have this bookmarked and will be back. I actually feel like this will get done now! I made a very small donation and only wish I could do more right now.
Saying thank you seems insufficient, so I will make a proper donation.
Cheers Chris,
I hope you are having a great week. I came across your site early last year after reading countless online info and some books on forming a nonprofit organization. It was all so daunting and uninspiring. Most authors, at least the ones I read, only skimmed the surface of what I sought. They never cut clear to the bone and explain in full detail as you have so elegantly and with a bit of humor did on your site. I managed nonetheless with what I researched to file & received my Article of Incorporation. I think it was the easiest of the lot to accomplish.
Now, the grind and misery begins with form 1023 and I am NOT taking this task on without the help of your amazing website. You explain things in layman’s term and give awesome answers, which I will borrow a few (lots) and use in my own voice as much as I can.
Saying thank you seems insufficient, so I will make a proper donation. But you only take PayPal, so I must reactivate my account. Thank you for the clarity and for your generosity. You as well as this page are awesome. Once I’ve completed my form, I would greatly appreciate it if you would, only if you have some time, to look it over. In any case, I need to get some rest. Tomorrow or Friday the latest, you’ll receive my donation.
Thank you,
Thank you for this website.
We’ve actually been running our non-profit for over a year. We’re coming up on the window for getting the IRS forms in and I have been scrambling. In 10 minutes on your site I have learned more practical, useful information than trying to decipher the IRS cryptography for several hours.
I just got your templates and they are great. Your humanitarian foundation is nearly identical to what we are doing in Thailand. Awesome.
I would also like to thank you for the article on Dwolla. We’ve had to turn down online donations or ask people to send us a check because the PayPal fees and red tape are too much. I will definitely check these guys out but I gotta ask why you are bot using them yourself?
Anyway, thanks again for keeping this site up.
Hi Chris, I’m an attorney (not nonprofit) and I downloaded your documents and I just wanted to thank you for making these available.
They are lifesavers and well worth the small donation I sent. Keep up the good work. Also, may I contact you regarding a big organization application? I would be happy to compensate you for your valuable knowledge. I will send you an email as well.
Sincerely,
I want to thank you for this most informative, well designed website.
I’ve been using it for the last several months as I put our 1023 documents together. It has the most thorough and complete information that I have come across. I would very much like you to review our documents and would welcome your comments and suggestions. I believe I have the docs in the required format and will shortly email the zip file to you and will make a payment on Paypal.
Chris I wanted to share the great news with you
Chris I wanted to share the great news with you, Thank you so much for all your help, I don’t think I could have done it without you. We received our Tax Exemption Status from the IRS today!!! This is very exciting news for us. Thank you again,
I am so happy to have found this site!
Thank you. Seriously, what a life saver, I just wish I would have found it earlier.
I HIGHLY recommend working with Chris when applying for your Non-Profit status.
I poured over multiple documents, conversed with others, etc. regarding how to fill out the IRS forms and got nothing but more confused and still had questions. Before Chris, i worked on our non-profit documents for 3 months … all to no avail. But then when i started working with Chris, he not only makes filling out the forms understandable, but if you have any questions, he promptly returns your calls, answers your emails and explains how you need to answer the questions and why….It only took 2 weeks total time working with Chris to get all the required non-profit filing forms filled out properly. The proof that Chris’ guidance is “spot-on” came in the mail today. We received our non-profit exemption in less than 30 days…. most remarkable as our situation was not simple. But with Chris’s help, which far exceeded any other assistance, we now are legally and properly a non-profit organization. Thank you Chris!!!
I would like to express my gratitude.
Although I did not find this site until I had almost all my documents done, I am so glad I did. I started a nonprofit to help residents in the county I live in and some surrounding areas that came about after I had to close my auto detailing business and went broke with a Family of 4. After filling out piles of paperwork and waiting forever, we almost hit rock bottom until relieve finally came but not in the way of state or federal but by the community we live in. The short term I like to use for what I do is “providing assistance for those waiting for state or federal assistance”, we have a very short one page form and once we verify someone is really in need, we help them, from maybe a utility bill, gas money to get to a job interview or medical appointment, car repair if needed, maybe someone can afford to pay rent if they had an apartment but never has enough for the deposit, you get the point. Shortly after founding “Family dreams Inc.” a couple called me and said they don’t feel as if they do enough for the community so they handed me a custom Harley Davidson Heritage Softail to raffle off and said do some good with it, well on nov. 29, 2014 someone will win it and when those funds are available for distribution, you can bet I will donate to this site, until then I will share with every one! Thank you
I would just like to say thank you for organizing this site and making it available to newly formed nonprofits.
I used this site to help form our nonprofit and to file our IRS tax exemption, and I know it is the reason why we got our determination letter back successfully in 90 days! Without your help, I feel I would have been at a loss because the tax application is so unbelievably overwhelming, particularly when you are a brand new nonprofit and do not have numbers or reports to base a lot of your findings on. It’s all projections. BUT thanks to your help with it, we received our exempt status, and the grant work can finally begin! Thank you, Thank you!
